2020 has been a tough year so you have to adapt if you want to make the most of the after-Christmas sales this year. Here’s how you can do it.

Don’t wait for clearance items to go on sale at 90% discounts

Inventory at most big-box retailers like Target has not offered as much choice as we’ve seen in previous years. This means that there will be very little left on the shelves when the stores mark items down at a 90 percent discount. Your best bet is to snag that product that’s marked down by 50 percent.

Buy Christmas décor, holiday-themed décor, and holiday gift sets

Stores like Walmart slash their prices right after Christmas to clear shelf space for Valentine’s Day. You can get up to 75 percent off on items and it’s a great way to spend that week between Christmas and New Years Day.

Sell your gift cards

If you got a bunch of gift cards over the holiday season for stores you don’t frequent, you may want to sell them. You may even be able to exchange them for gift cards and coupons for restaurants and popular stores which will allow you to save money throughout the year.

Buy Christmas candy at a 50 percent discount at CVS and Walgreens

You don’t care that your Hershey’s miniatures are wrapped in green and red foil, and neither will your kids.

Stock up at the Target after-Christmas toy saleThe sale, which started on New Year’s Day this year, usually has up to 70 percent discounts on dolls, hatchimals, action figures, and Disney toys. So, buy in bulk and save your purchases for the birthdays that are coming up in 2021 to keep your budget on track.
